Source : Samsung
In 2016, Samsung saw a few ups and downs. Where on one hand its J series was a huge success on the other was the Note 7 which was meant to be their flagship smartphone but it costed them $5 billions (approx.) and a lot of criticism. No worries, Samsung has its Galaxy series to save the day. The Galaxy series has always been a hit amongst the customers and also the most profitable product for the company. Now to cover its losses and to set new standards in the industry, Samsung has released the two most awaited smartphones the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus. These are loaded with the latest technology and also has some amazing unique features which makes it eligible to be called as a premium smartphone.

Here are some of the features which makes them stand out and be the talk of the town.

Design -

Samsung has not been amongst those companies who were appreciated for their design. Although their smartphones had sharp and bright display but they had their trademark design used in all of their phones. But with its new launch they are ready to break the traditional rules. The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus comes with, what is being called the "Infinite Display". They come in 5.8" and 6.2" sizes respectively with a resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels and curved screen on the sides. The Samsung logo and the traditional Home button has been removed from the front to make it bezel free and compact. Instead of the Home button, Samsung has implemented the force touch mechanism at the bottom which acts as a virtual home button.

Improved Camera -

There has always been a tough fight in this segment and its hard to decide a clear winner. Although the S8 and S8 Plus comes with a 12MP rear shooter, its f/1.7 aperture and improved image processing software makes the photo sharp and crisp and also good for low light photography. The front camera is a 8MP shooter with autofocus so that you can click blur less selfie quickly.

The S8 and the S8 Plus comes with the latest Bixby software, which is the Samsung's own virtual assistant software to make the phone more easy to access. By pressing a dedicated button on the side Bixby Voice gets activated and then you can do mostly everything that you could do by touching the phone. Then there is Bixby Vision (Samsung's version of Google Goggles) which lets you identify objects captured by the camera. With the DeX technology (Desktop Experience) the idea of using the smartphone's processor as a computer has finally turned into reality. Just put the phone inside the dedicated DeX hardware and you are good to go. It consists of 2 USB Ports for keyboard and mouse, 1 HDMI for display and 1 USB type C port for power to make it a computer wherever you want. A DeX OS optimized for bigger screens and faster performance is used for the interface.

Better Security -

Gone are the days when you used to unlock your phone with some pattern or password, now you have the figerprint sensor and on the S8 and S8 Plus it is placed right next to the camera. Now the placement of the sensor is arguable but where on S8 it can be easily accessed, on the S8 Plus its hard to reach if using single handedly. Iris Scanning is another feature which can be used to unlock the phone and is the safest way to secure your private contents. They also come with an option of face unlock which is very quick and quite accurate even in low light (thanks to great selfie camera.)

Some more amazing features and specifications -
S8 and S8 Plus packs a 3000 mAh and 3500 mAh battery respectively and runs on Android 7.0. These are the first smartphones to come with Bluetooth 5.0. They are IP68 waterproof over 1.5 meters for 30 minutes, supports a 4G speed of upto 1Gbps, has a USB Type C port for fast charging and the 3.5mm Jack for audiophiles. Top 5 expected features of Android O

Source:Google.
Its been almost an year since the release of the Android N and from last few weeks everyone, from users to the developers, have been eagerly waiting for the release of the next Android version. So Google didn't make their customers wait and released a Developer Preview of Android O this week. As expected Google has added some awesome features and updates to the new Android currently being referred to as 'O'. Here I share with you some updates that you might see on Android O.

Improved Battery Life  -
Battery life has always been a problem with Android smartphones and Google have been working on it trying to make it better with every release. Improved battery life is a feature which the users will love the most. While multitasking Android O will smartly limit the activity of the apps open in the background to prevent them from draining your battery. This limit is mainly set on three activities that uses the most battery - implicit broadcasts, background services, and location updates.

Notification Menu -
Drop down notification cum menu bar is a feature of Android that comes very handy to quickly check any messages or to on and off any service such as WiFi, Torch, Location. Now its more simple and clean-cut and you can do much more with it. The notifications can be grouped into different channels depending on their category. So news apps can be grouped in one channel messaging apps in other and so on, this will prevent your notification bar from flooding with notifications.

Snooze Notifications -
Imagine you are busy with some work and some annoying notifications from an app keeps disturbing you, this feature can be a life saver in this situation. In Android O you can slide the notification sideways and setup a snooze time of 15, 30 or 60 minutes. The notification will not show up until the time is complete. You can also snooze or block a whole channel.

Picture in Picture -
This feature will help in an improved user experience and will help users to work with full efficiency on their smartphones and tablets. With PIP users can let the videos play in a small box, while using other apps. So while watching a movie you can now go through the news, surf internet or do whatever you want.

LDAC Audio -
This feature is for the music lovers. Google has partnered with Sony to bring in the support for LDAC codec on Android O. This codec lets you stream high quality audio wirelessly on your Bluetooth devices. Also there are some more settings that you can expect to see on Android O which are music oriented.

These are the most promising features from the new Android O Developers preview, but its just the first release so some more features might be added or some might be removed and you can expect the final release by July or August (although Google has not made any official announcement for that its just my prediction. ;))
